Fans of snacks, take note: the Lay’s annual celebration is about to begin. The 2025 “Do Us a Flavor” competition has officially ended after a seven-year break, bringing us a brand-new million-dollar flavor.
In case you are unfamiliar with the snack sweepstakes, Frito-Lay is using a crowdsourcing method to find the next big chip flavor that fans will adore. Lay’s asks fans for ideas for flavors and uses their votes to determine what ultimately makes it onto store shelves rather than conducting internal product testing. The winner receives a $1 million prize, of course.
Cheesy Garlic Bread, Southern Biscuits and Gravy, Wavy Fried Green Tomato, and Crispy Taco are just a few of the incredibly inventive and delicious flavors that the contest has brought us over the years. And it produced another chip this year that you won’t be able to put down as a snack.
Lay’s Announces Its 2025 Do Us a Flavor Winner
Fans had plenty of time—possibly too much time—to reflect after seven years away.
More than 700,000 flavor suggestions were submitted this year—who knew there were that many options? Nevertheless, three finalists emerged: Wavy Korean-Style Fried Chicken, a salty and strong-tasting version; Bacon Grilled Cheese, a savory, gratifying combination; and Valentina and Lime, a hot and zesty blend.
Fans had a limited time to sample all three and cast their votes for their favorite. The ultimate comfort food classic, bacon grilled cheese, has been crowned the winner.
This chip won over America’s affections while capturing the sandwich’s rich, decadent flavor. It was nostalgic for all who tasted it, but Paula George, the creator of the flavor, found it to be even more significant. Inspired by her late father’s famous sandwich recipe, she hoped that fans everywhere would be reminded of a favorite meal by the chip. The results indicate that it was successful.
Even though you don’t taste all three flavors in every bite, one reviewer claimed to be able to “taste the buttery bread, gooey American cheese, and the saltiness of the bacon.”. However, if that sounds like your kind of chip, it’s time to go shopping, as many fans intend to do.
While supplies last, all three of the finalist flavors are still on the market. Get a bag before it’s gone if you were smitten by one of the runners-up.
